Blueberry Muffin Protein Shake

This weekend was the “Branford Road Race”, since I had moved close to downtown Branford last fall, I have been counting down the days for the race that literally begins outside my front door!  How cool is that!

Despite the fact that I simply have to walk out my front door to the starting line, race day is always a 189087_10200229192867572_1848127106_nchaotic morning.  Between picking the perfect outfit, something both cute and sporty, creating a heart pumping play list, and  the is the obligatory task of the pre-race breakfast.  The balance between carbs and protein and even sugar is not always easy to achieve.  The typical banana and peanut butter can get old (and boring) pretty quickly.  During a crazy, rushed morning where stretching takes priority over cooking, an easy, transportable breakfast is a must.  This smoothie is filled with fresh blueberries, whole grains, omega 3’s and tons of flavor.  With the cinnamon sugar and subtle taste of oats, this blended drink tastes exactly like a blueberry muffin…minus the guilt!
